A native resident of Ventura County, James U. Hagman built Elvenstar from the ground up. As founder he not only literally laid the foundation, Jim also initiated and developed each aspect of the business. From choosing fencing to teaching students to creating a lesson program and competitive show stable, Jim’s vision of Elvenstar is a reality.

Katie Gardner

 In the saddle since age six, Katie had a very successful junior career at Elvenstar concluding with the Young Rider competition. Soon after graduating with a degree in psychology from USC, Katie decided to follow her passion and become a professional rider and trainer. She has come full circle, returning to the place where she learned to be a horseman and top competitor, Elvenstar.

Kay Altheuser

In 2000 Kay Altheuser joined Jim Hagman and the Elvenstar team. As Head of Elvenstar’s Regional Program for the past eleven years, Kay has helped to coach students to victories in the USEF Medal and Maclay finals, Zone 10 Medal Finals, LAHJA and SFHJA Medal Finals, Jr Hunter Finals, and numerous championships from local to national levels.
